Do you remember how smartphones were made to save your time — for communication, for calculations, for getting information and so on.
They kinda did… until they didn’t.
Suddenly, we all became reachable 24×7 😅
Then came AI.
And I thought, “Finally! I’ll have more time, more clarity, and maybe even more naps.”
But nope.
AI didn’t give me peace, to be very honest. It started giving stress.
Now I feel like I should be doing more, in less time, with fewer people.
I should be scaling faster, launching quicker, thinking sharper.
But reality?
I have more ideas than ever.
I have more ways to implement them because of AI.
In between all of this… my brain feels slower. My body lags behind.
Why Are We So Stressed Lately?
It’s not just me. Or you.
Stress has evolved with society.
When physical work was more than mental work, life moved slower.
You worked hard, ate food, slept well. Simple.
But as we’ve moved through the ages:
Agriculture Age > too much physical work
Industrial Age > machines eased it a bit
Information Age > mental work ramped up
Now (Intelligence Age) > even mental work is being automated by AI
Result?
Now we’re mentally overloaded, physically underused.
World is changing so rapidly that literally no one has clue about the next steps.
Too many things, too fast, too often.
And that’s shaking our sense of worth.
It’s not “Can I do this?”
It’s “Am I still relevant?”
And that is exhausting.
And when the gap between expectations and reality widens – that’s what we call stress.
This is why metro city life is full of pressure.
Everything moves fast. People can’t always keep up.
It’s not a lack of capability.
It’s just an unnatural pace.
Here’s what I’m trying these days
The only reason I am sharing this now, is because I feel I have overcome the issue. My last 2 weeks were quite good and productive by just making a few changes.
(1) Fewer tasks. More traction.
Everyday, I used to aim for 7-9 tasks. Result? I ended up doing nothing significant and felt guilty by the end of the day. Every single day.
Now I pick just 1 big task for the day and try to complete it. Of course, smaller tasks are still a part but I don’t keep on taking everything that comes to me.
(2) Brain dumping daily.
Too many ideas = mental fog.
I offload everything into my diary now.
I don’t act on all of it. I just declutter my mind.
(3) Planning next day in advance.
Most of the times we get distracted simply because we have nothing worth doing at the moment.
So we spend a lot of time in just thinking. In that process, we get distracted and waste a lot of time.
✍ TODAY’S ACTION ITEM
Ask yourself –
“What actually moves the needle for me right now?”
Then:
✅ Cut out rest of the things, either by postponing them or outsourcing them or simply blocking dedicated time for them.
